Snake revisited~

I was sound asleep this morning at about 8.45am when suddenly mummy ran
up to woke me up. In my partial awakeness, I can hear her trembling
voice saying ‘wake up, there’s a snake in the house..AGAIN!’. So I
quickly got out of bed and ran downstairs, merely seeing a blurry black
line slithering towards the clock. Why blurry? Coz I forgot my glasses.

By then mummy was still in a panic, so decided to call for help. Since
I can’t remember the phone number to my area’s security, I decided to
call our national emergency line (it is an emergency, at least I think
it is) 999. The operator was nice and friendly. But the procedures was
kinda silly. First as usual they introduced themselves, then ask what
is the purpose of the call, ask who’s on the line, description of the
snake, address, phone number, house number, then reconfirm your
address, your phone number, and your home phone number. Then they will
ask for any landmarks near your house to assist them in finding the
right house at the shortest time possible.

I thought that was it, but then I was transferred to the JPA, Jabatan
Perkhidmatan Awam line in which the whole process was repeated again!
By the time the call is done, and everything is recorded, it’s already
9am. At 9.15am, help is not here yet. Well, you thought that within 15
minutes help would have arrived after watching so many movies. laughing.gif
So, I called 999 again. They said they have passed the case over to the
Fire department (what happened to JPA??) and they are already on the
way. 5 minutes later, the fire station called and confirmed that there
is indeed something going on in my house.

Guess what! They called the Bomba @ Cyberjaya instead of the one at
Puchong. Again they were asking the address, landmark, etc.. By that
time, any fear is gone and we’re just waiting for the firemen to come.
By 9.35am, they finally arrived. 7 firemen (including the ketua balai)
came in a big firetruck, with sirens blaring. When they reached the
front of my house, everyone was already assembled (malaysian ma).. They
were very quick once here, all 7 men quickly grab their equipments and
rushed in. They did remeber to ask for permission to enter the house
with their shoes. wtf.gif

They came in with 3 ‘batang penyapu’, seriously! All 7 surrounded the
snake and confirmed that it is indeed a Cobra. They asked us to leave
the house as not to get in their way. Mummy left while I retreated to
the stairs. They asked for the lights to be turned on and closed all
the doors so the snake wouldn’t escape. Our security also stopped by
and asked why we didn’t inform them earlier. Mummy wasn’t going to call
the security because of the inhumane way they handle the 1st snake that
entered my home.

By 9.45am, they snake was caught while it coiled around the magazine
rack. It was a small struggle, but they got it off the magazine rack in
the end. A fireman came up to me and aske for ‘Guni Beras’. I was like,
do they still sell rice in those in KL? confused.gif
In the end they asked for a plastic bag, place the snake in it, tied it
up and just chucked it in the back of the firetruck. Before they left,
they adviced to put sulfur all around the house since this wasn’t our
first encounter with a snake @ home. The snake wasn’t big, just a small
2 1/2 to 3 feet baby according to the firemen but is said to be just as
dangerous. Kudos to our BOMBA for their fast action in catching the
snake and not letting it run all over the house. Without them, I would
still be standing from a far watching the snake’s every move (as told
by the telephone operators). pleased.gif

The scare of my life~

Today while on the way to office, I had the scare of my life. It was raining a little, just a light drizzle in the morning. As usual, in KL, when the heavens open people start to loose the ability to drive properly. Heard of many accidents happened at almost every road on the radio, and was stuck in jam for an hour.

Slowly creeping along, it seems like just another boring drive to work. The usual stop and go traffic all the way from Puchong to Petaling Jaya. The squeezing of like 20 lanes into 4 after the Sunway toll is terrible today. But nothing could prepare me for what is to happen a little later on. Everything is like as usual, like the daily drive from Puchong to Petaling Jaya. Nothing out of the ordinary except for the heavier than normal traffic.

So, when it all cleared up after Amcorp Mall, the drive was pleasurable. Not as stressful looking at the meter showing only 7.0L/100KM instead of 8.4L/100KM when stuck in traffic. So, everything still is normal until when I enter Jalan 13/6 from Jalan Semangat. There are a couple of lorries, which is still as usual in front of Dutch Lady. So, cruising at a slow 40~50KM/H all the way towards Jalan Universiti is when it happened!

Many factories are on my left and right including a Universiti, and it’s a quarter to 10am, so there’s bound to be people crossing the roads. It’s all fine up until the bend near Honda. This girl, which I suspect is a student at the Universiti (from the way she dressed and the sling bag she’s carrying) suddenly walked in front of my car! I jammed my brakes while honking and stopped a couple of meters before her. Lucky I was on fuel economy mode (and also I wasn’t late for work).

Bet most of you would have blamed me, like the police would but get this, the girl actually totally ignored the fact that I was even there. She was holding an umbrella while crossing while looking for the other direction’s traffic. The worst thing is, she just stood there expecting me to stop! (suddenly felt that what u see on TV is true where people just stand there letting a vehicle knock down). It’s scary I tell u!

My advice to the girl, if she ever gets to read this, is to be careful when crossing the road. It’s general knowledge for people to look right, look left then look right again before crossing and not to only look left! It’s even scarier come to think of it that I could have ended a young innocent girl’s life. And all because there’s no pedestrian crossings along that road! So, conclusion, drive carefully. Always be alert of the surroundings and drive safe. You not only save yourself, you may also save those that use the road recklessly.

Life at 15th June 2009~

It’s been 142 days since the previous entry.. So, what’s different? Well, I am still me. Juz 142 days older that is. Not much taller, not much heavier, not much rounder, not much clever~ The main thing is that I have again traded my vineyard for a fully air-conditioned work space. Yes! I am employed. It took me a while, but I still manage to land a job~

Pre-June was nothing much to talk about. in the 142 days.. Nothing much to talk about (can’t remember much of it anyway).. Main highlights are 1. I have a car now. Most of you might be able to guess it (if u haven’t already know) and most of you will not agree with my decision to spend money on it. But I did it. I bought my long desired car, the 2008 Proton Gen2 CPS 1.6 with the bulk of the financial being back by my Daddy dearest of coz!  More details here: http://geocities.com/jullian_vipers2/ and also http://jvipers2-g2cps.blogspot.com/

Moving on, 2. Did manage to watched Monsters vs. Aliens IN 3D with my dear dear! It’s so cool~ Really 3D, just that the goggles are heavy, I mean V-E-R-Y heavy! You can really see the difference with those 3D-like animations and it’s wayyy better than then what TV3 tried last time round. It’s just that the ticket price is a lil high, RM17 instead of the normal RM10 (RM7 if you’re a student or it happens to be Wednesday)

Now to post-June 15. I’m now working. Working at here: http://www.asia-assistance.com/ ~~ Working as what? As a Case Management Officer. What I do is actually like a middleman between the insurance company and a patient admitted into hospital. My responsibility is to help the patient register and discharge and also to make sure the patient understands his/her insurance package. So, basically that’s it.

Basically nothing much now, it’s a 5 day job. Still in probation. So working hours are 9am-6pm, Monday to Friday for the time being. It’s good to have Yick Hui around, at least it’s not so foreign. ^^ Traffic is chaotic! Going to office as well as back take approximately 1 and a half hours.. Anyone can help? Guide me from IOI Mall, Puchong to Jaya One, PJ with as little traffic as possible. If there’s toll, hopefully it’s affordable. Thanx in advance~

Now, life as an adult has officially started where one have to work hard just to make ends meet. This is where the ‘roads’ I’ve taken in my life have lead me to. So, hopefully it’s a long road ahead. Colleagues are nice and friendly people, never imagined an office to have such a friendly environment. Even doing some errors once in a while did not get a stern warning, just a gentle reminder not to repeat the error. Supervisor is also very patient and a very good teacher!

Life is full of challenges but I’m loving my life now. I am blessed, I am not ashamed that I am and I’m greatful for that. I have a loving family, a good job, and to top it all, an understanding dear dear~ What more can a guy ask for? Other than an Iphone, a MINI Cooper S, a semi-d, a desktop, RM3mil, etc etc~

Nights? Or Should it be morning?? :P

Well, it’s been a while since there is an entry here, so since everyone’s blogging “early” in the morning, why don’t I join in?

Nowadays I spend most of my time at home, in my realm.. Since graduating (yes! finally I’ve graduated frm UTAR) I have been ‘rotting’ (new term to replace ‘planting grapes’) at home, with no plans in the near future to look for a job.. Well, with the global economy crisis, I must be a lil ‘cuckoo’ to not even prepare a good resume let alone look for a job! Some friends are already working..some lucky ones are already earning handsomely or juz enough to support themselves while some are still looking (like me ).. There are plans to go overseas, but again, what the world is facing today is a global issue (except for us which the gov seems to say that our economy is as strong as before~) so it’s quite scary to think of travelling so far juz to be unemployed and return home.

I found that many ppl enjoy blogging ‘early’ in the morning. Maybe the internet is less congested? Maybe they like the quiet atmosphere or maybe that’s the only time they’re free?? But come on, don’t u guyz need your 8 hour sleep?? Don’t u guyz have to work the following day??

The clock is showing 4am, I’ve never stayed up til so early in the morning since the days of FYP report dateline rushing~ So life is one day at a time, til the day of 01/01/2009 reaches..hopefully by then I’ll be in working mode, and not in looking mode~
